Odisha Vigilance nabs Kacharasahi GP PEO while taking bribe of Rs 5,000
Prafulla Kumar Nath, the Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO, Kachara sahi Grama Panchayat (GP) in Jajpur district, has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe.

Odisha Vigilance nabbed Nath while he was taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the beneficiary under Antyodaya Gruha Yojana( AGY) for release of final instalment in her favour.
AGY is a rural housing scheme under Government of Odisha for providing pucca (permanent) houses to houseless individuals. The beneficiary who happens to be a poor widow has completed the construction of the house on time.
As per the provision of the above scheme, the beneficiary is entitled to get a bonus along with the final instalment. But, the accused PEO demanded bribe Rs 10,000 from the beneficiary to release the final instalment and bonus amount in her favour.
When the beneficiary expressed her inability to pay the demanded bribe Rs 10,000, the accused PEO reduced the bribe amount to Rs 5,000. He also threatened the beneficiary unless the bribe money was paid to him, he would not release the final instalment and the bonus money in her favour.
Being aggrieved by the demanded bribe, beneficiary(Complainant) alleged before the vigilance authorities narrating harassment by the accused PEO Nath.
On this, today, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Nath while taking bribe Rs 5,000 from the complainant. The entire bribe money Rs 5,000 has been recovered from the possession of accused Nath and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations linked to Nath, PEO from Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.
In this connection, Kataka Vigilance PS case Case no 26/2026, U/s7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused PEO. Detailed report follows.
