Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police, Odisha, S.K Bansal on Friday dismissed Vigilance Inspector Manasi Jena who was arrested for demanding and accepting bribe from a resident of Bargarh last month.
Bansal dismissed Manasi Jena of Sambalpur Vigilance Division from service under Art. 311(2)(b) of the Constitution of India with immediate effect.
On May 13 Manasi Jena was trapped along with her associate (private person) named Mukesh Sahoo by the Internal Vigilance Unit of Odisha Vigilance for demand and acceptance of undue advantage (bribe) of Rs 10,00,000 from a Government official for closure of a petition against him.
On May 14 both the accused persons Manasi Jena, Inspector and her associate (private person) Mukesh Sahoo were arrested and forwarded to the Court. In this connection, Vigilance Cell P.S. Case No.5 dated 12.05.2022 U/s 7/12 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 was registered against both the accused Smt. Jena and her associate (private person) Sahoo and is under investigation.
Further investigation is underway.
