Odisha to get 600 more e-buses: Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra
Odisha government has decided to get a total of 600 new electric buses to boost to eco-friendly public transport in the state, informed Housing & Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra today.
Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to get a total of 600 new electric buses to boost to eco-friendly public transport in the state, informed Housing & Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra today.
According to the Minister, the state requires around 1,000 e-buses to meet its growing demand due to which the government has decided to get 600 new electric buses. Out of these, the stated government itself will procure 200 buses, the Central Government while provide 400 buses under the Prime Minister’s scheme.
Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) will operate all these buses under its “Ama Bus” initiative with the aim to provide safe, affordable and green transport.
Of these 600 buses, a total of 25 e-buses will be deployed in Sambalpur in the first phase, the Minister said adding that the service in phase-wise will be gradually expanded to other districts like Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Berhampur and Angul.
At present, the state has a fleet of 450 e-buses.
