Bhubaneswar: The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Bhubaneswar has decided to apply for the remand of the man who killed his girlfriend in a train toilet in Bhubaneswar on April 20.
According to sources at the police, the cops will seek the permission of the court to take the accused man, named Sudhansu Pradhan of Dharakot area in Ganjam district, on remand to question him over the murder of his girlfriend, Suman Kumari of Ranchi.
It is to be noted here that Bhubaneswar GRP arrested Sudhansu Pradhan from Surat on October 23 on charges of killing Suman in Dhanbad-Bhubaneswar Express train after six months. Cop arrested him by tracking the call details record (CDR) of the deceased.
During investigation, police came to know that Suman Kumari and Sudhansu Pradhan became friends on Instagram and gradually fell in love. Sudhansu was not willing to marry her as he has a wife.
However, the accused reportedly married Suman on October 2022 at a temple in Ranchi after her family members forced him. Since then, the couple used to fight on a regular basis and the accused was finding opportunity to eliminate her.
The accused brought Suman to Odiasha assuring her to introduce his family members. But after reaching Odisha, he decided to take her to Surat instead of taking her to the village. Thus, when the Dhanbad-Bhubaneswar Express train reached Bhubaneswar, he killed her in one of the toilets and fled the spot.
Taking a serious note of the case, Bhubaneswar GRP conducted an investigation into the matter and successfully arrested him form Surat recently. They are planning to take him on remand to know more about the crime and find out the deceased woman’s belongings and mobile phone. Police are also in search of the knife the accused use to kill Suman.
