Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Odisha is very likely to experience heavy to very heavy rain today. The IMD has issued orange warning to seven districts of the state, while 19 districts are under yellow alert.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, districts including Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal and Keonjhar are very likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) and thunderstorm with lightning.
Furthermore, yellow warning for heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning has been issued to Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuaapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj.
For tomorrow, yellow warning for heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning has been issued to districts including Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Deogarh and Keonjhar.
Keeping the weather conditions in mind, the weather department has advised people in the orange and yellow alert areas to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning.
