Odisha Leopard Census report out, 696 leopards in State, check details

Bhubaneswar: The state’s first Leopard census report was released on Thursday. It is reported that there are 696 leopards in Odisha.

As per reports, the counting of leopards was carried on with the help of trap cameras.

According to the NTCA report, in 2022 there were 568 tigers while in 2018, a total of 760 leopards were identified in the state.

PCCF Sushant Nanda provided this information on the occasion of wildlife week on Thursday. However, for the first time, the forest department has conducted leopard census at its own.

It has been reported that the number of tigers is known from the 284 photos of tigers, footprints, etc., taken in the cameras installed in different forests of the state.
