Odisha: Kendu leaf pluckers to get 25% bonus, staff to get 5% incentive
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today approved the payment of bonus and incentive amount for the welfare of lakhs of kendu leaf leaf pluckers, binders and seasonal staff associated with the trade.
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today approved the payment of bonus and incentive amount for the welfare of lakhs of kendu leaf leaf pluckers, binders and seasonal staff associated with the trade.
As per an X post of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the price of kendu leaf in the process area has been increased by 10 paisa per ‘Kerry’ (a bundle containing 20 leaves) and the price of ‘Phal’ (40 pieces) has been increased by 20 paisa following the instructions of the Chief Minister. For this, the state government will bear the expenditure of Rs 10.78 crore.
Similarly, it has been decided to provide 25 percent bonus to the kendu leaf pluckers. Along with this, the Chief Minister has order to provide a 5 per cent incentive amount to the binders and seasonal staff. The state government will spend a total of Rs 74.78 crore for implementing these measures.
