Odisha government incurred an expenditure of Rs 115.95 crore on logistical arrangements including vehicles, tents, sound systems, barricades, and other election-related management during the 2024 simultaneous Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections.
Bhubaneswar: Odisha government incurred an expenditure of Rs 115.95 crore on logistical arrangements including vehicles, tents, sound systems, barricades, and other election-related management during the 2024 simultaneous Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections. This was informed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi while responding to a question of Athagarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain in the State Assembly today.
According to the Chief Minister, the State government spent Rs 80.93 crore on hiring vehicles for election-related activities and Rs 35 crore for sound systems, tents, and barricades to facilitate the election process across the state.
It is to be noted here that the 2024 Lok Sabha (for 21 MP seats) and State Assembly (147 MLA seats) elections were simultaneous held in four phases from 13 May 2024 to 1 June 2024.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister while reply to MLA Tankadhar Tripathy’s question also had informed that 67 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and 69 Indian Police Service (IPS) positions are currently vacant in the State. Likewise, a vacancy of 69 posts of Indian Forest Service (IFS), 253 posts of Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) and Odisha Police Service (OPS) positions, 274 posts of Odisha Finance Service (OFS) posts, 611 posts of Odisha Forest Service (OFS) vacancies, and 263 posts of Odisha Revenue Service (ORS) also are lying vacant in the state, the CM added.
