Odisha govt forms 10-member Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee
Days after the announcement of Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, the State Government on Tuesday formed the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee.
Bhubaneswar: Days after the announcement of Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, the State Government on Tuesday formed the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee.
Principal Secretary of the Law Department Manas Ranjan Barik issued a notification saying that the 10-member Shree Jagannatha Temple Managing Committee has been constituted as per the provisions of the Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1954 (Odisha Act 11 of 1955).
“In pursuance of clauses (i), (j), (k), and (l) of sub-section (1) of Section 6 of the Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1954 (Odisha Act 11 of 1955), the State Government hereby nominates the following persons as members of the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee,” read the notification.

- Raghubir Das Maharaj of Balaramkot Matha (Representing Math & other institutions)
- Girish Chandra Murmu, Former C.A.G.
- K. Sabat, Chartered Accountant
- Mahesh Kumar Sahoo
Earlier on Friday (August 22), Harichandan had announced that the management committee will be formed between September 3-4 days following which the first meeting will be held to take a final decision on commencement of dhadi darshan from September 15.
Speaking to the newsmen, the Law Minister had informed that the management committee on its very first meeting will discuss about shifting of the Hundi (Donation Box) to facilitate ‘Dhadi Darshan’ at the 12th century shrine.
Prithviraj hoped that the dhadi darshan will help the temple administration to effectively control the crowd and so that the devotees will have smooth and peaceful darshan of the deities.
