Odisha: Elephant tranquilised, taken to Kapilas for treatment

Mayurbhanj: The tusker elephant which wreaked havoc in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha in the last few days has been tranquilised and taken for treatment today. The elephant had trampled to death a woman yesterday.

As per reports, the Forest Department took much pain to tranquilise the elephant. However, finally it was tranquilised and taken for treatment. The elephant was lifted by crain to put it on the truck and was then taken for treatment.

The RCCF has informed that the elephant was taken to Kapilas for treatment. There arrangement has been made for its treatment.

Later, after it recovers, it will again be released to its natural habitat in the forest. The elephant had reportedly killed humans and destroyed houses in the last few days by entering into villages, and hence some villagers in the area were in panic.
