Odisha Drivers Mahasangha to begin indefinite “steering down” protest from tomorrow
All members of the Odisha Drivers Mahasangha across the State will begin the indefinite "steering down" protest from tomorrow to press for the fulfillment of their seven-point charter of demands.
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Drivers Mahasangh will begin an indefinite “steering down” protest from tomorrow, informed Prashant Menduli, the president of the drivers’ association.
Menduli informed that all members of the Odisha Drivers Mahasangha across the State will begin the indefinite “steering down” protest from tomorrow to press for the fulfillment of their seven-point charter of demands.
Except the drivers of the emergency services, all others including that of bus, truck and auto-rickshaw will go on an indefinite cease-works agitation from tomorrow until their demands are fulfilled.
Their seven-point charter of demands includes welfare measures like death benefits, social security, pension after 60, and inadequate parking and wayside amenities after every 100 kms.
Meanwhile, the Transport Workers’ Union opposed the state-wide “Steering‑Down” protest of the Odisha Drivers Mahasangha saying that while there are 35 different associations of the drivers, only Odisha Drivers Mahasangha has called for the protest, it is because of for their own benefits.
