Odisha coronavirus patient comes in contact with 129 persons: Subroto Bagchi

Bhubaneswar : The 31-year old coronavirus infected patient, who has been admitted at the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, has come in contact with a total of 129 persons since his train journey from New Delhi and aftermath here in Odisha, said specially appointed spokesperson Subroto Bagchi  on Monday.

The coronavirus infected man had come in contact with as many as 76 passengers during his train journey from New Delhi to Bhubaneswar, Bagchi said adding that 56 passengers have been identified so far.

The rest 53 persons, who came in contact with the infected man in Bhubaneswar, include his family members, friends and the staff of a private hospital in the city, he added.

According to reports, the man returned from Italy to Delhi on March 6. He reportedly tested negative during the airport screening process in the national capital. He was put in home quarantine as he had travelled from Italy and was advised 14 days of self-isolation.

However, the man came to Odisha by a train from New Delhi. He arrived here on March 12.

On March 13, the man visited a private hospital here complaining fever and cough. However, his condition didn’t improve following which he went to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar on March 14. He tested positive for coronavirus yesterday.

Meanwhile, the State government has sealed the private hospital in which the patient first visited for treatment.

This was the first coronavirus positive case in Odisha. With this, the total number of coronavirus patients in India now stands at 113.
