Naveen had extended BJD’s support to Kovind and had kept a close vigil on the voting for the Presidential election in the Assembly, following which President Kovind got 127 votes out of 146 from the Odisha State Assembly.
Patnaik had also hosted the 14th President for lunch during his visit to Bhubaneswar to seek support for his candidature.
Kovind was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of India Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar at a special function in the Central hall of Parliament today.
