Odisha CM announces additional 5 kg rice for beneficiaries under New Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana
The Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana has been launched with the grand objective that no family in Odisha will remain hungry, no child will be a victim of malnutrition, no elderly person will suffer due to lack of food, said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today on the occasion of the two-year anniversary of the government.
Bhubaneswar: The Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana has been launched with the grand objective that no family in Odisha will remain hungry, no child will be a victim of malnutrition, no elderly person will suffer due to lack of food, said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today on the occasion of the two-year anniversary of the government.
At the ceremony held at Unit-3, IDCO Exhibition Grounds, Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister outlined various welfare initiatives and schemes taken by the state government in the last two years and said that our government is moving forward with Prime Minister’s mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’. We are continuing our efforts with determination to build a prosperous, strong and self-respecting Odisha, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of a developed India and the blessings of the people of Odisha.
Launching the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana, the Chief Minister said that this is not just a scheme, it is a historic resolution of our government to ensure the welfare of the people, sensitivity towards the poor and to secure the rice plate of every family in the state. He said that this is our government’s gift to the common people of Odisha on the occasion of the government’s two years of existence.
It is worth noting that all the beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (FSA) and the State Food Security Scheme (, SFSS) will get an additional 5 kg of rice per person free of cost in this scheme along with their regular free rice. It is worth noting that the beneficiaries of the state are currently getting 5 kg of rice free of cost. After the implementation of this scheme, now each beneficiary will get 10 kg of rice free of cost.
A total of 3 crore 28 lakh 52 thousand members of 1 crore 96 thousand families of the state i.e. 80 percent of the total population will benefit. The state government will spend Rs 8,813 crore annually on this scheme. The Chief Minister said at the launch that this expenditure is not an expense for us to bring smiles to the faces of the poor, it is a sacred social investment.
On the occasion of its second anniversary, the Chief Minister today launched three important projects for Bhubaneswar. For the development of traffic and congestion control in Bhubaneswar, a 6-lane road of more than 13 km in length was inaugurated from the Institute of Mathematics to Infocity via Ekamra Kanan, built at a cost of Rs 108.24 crore. Along with this, he laid foundation stone for the development and beautification of the Jayadev Vihar-Nandankanan road and construction of flyover at a cost of more than Rs 949 crore. This road will be expanded to 8 lanes.
Besides, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 20-storey Janashraya Bhawan at Janpath for the safe accommodation of people coming to Bhubaneswar from different parts of the state. This building, to be built at a cost of Rs 874 crore, will provide short-term accommodation for 2000 people with all the facilities at low prices.
Along with this, the Chief Minister launched the distribution of smart phones to all Anganwadi workers, supervisors and block coordinators of the state. These phones will be provided to 72,224 Anganwadi workers, 2802 lady supervisors and 338 block coordinators of the state. Along with this, the Chief Minister launched the Subhadra Shakti Newspaper program.
On the occasion of the program, the Chief Minister inaugurated an exhibition titled “Success and Achievements of the State Government in Two Years” and visited the premises.
At the program, Deputy Chief Minister Parvati Parida said that our government is working with commitment to empower rural women and enable them to lead. Extending advance greetings to everyone on the occasion of Raja, she said that earlier Subhadra was given, today is Annapurna. The house where Maa Subhadra and Maa Annapurna reside will be assured of prosperity and progress.
Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said that our government is a government of dawn. We are working with commitment to provide all facilities and development to the people living in the last rung of the society. We are continuing our efforts to build a hunger-free and fear-free society.
Housing and Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said that the Chief Minister has planned this Janakalyankar Annapurna Yojana and Janashray Bhavan, keeping in mind the plight of the poor families. He said that by taking refuge in the feet of Lord Shri Jagannath and with the blessings of the people of Odisha, our government will move further in the field of development and public service.
