Odia actor Tapi Mishra arrested for online harassment and abuse

Odia actor and YouTuber Saroj Mishra, better known as Tapi Mishra, was arrested today and forwarded to the Court for judicial proceedings for online harassment and abuse.

Bhubaneswar: Odia actor and YouTuber Saroj Mishra, better known as Tapi Mishra, was arrested today and forwarded to the Court for judicial proceedings for online harassment and abuse.

The Infocity Police arrested Tapi Mishra on charges of online harassment and abuse directed at an Odia author, Banasmita Pati.

The incident occurred on 17.03.2025, at approximately 11:00 A.M., when Rakesh Roshan Mohanty posted a Facebook status regarding a controversial statement made by a self-proclaimed Odia actor. In response to this post, Pati commented, condemning the actor’s statement and encouraging public discourse on the matter.

Following her comment, accused Tapi Mishra, tagged Pati and used obscene language in an attempt to harass and demean her publicly.

Recognizing the gravity of the offense, Pati reported the matter to Infocity Police Station, where a formal complaint was lodged. Consequently, Infocity PS Case No. 104/2025, was registered and an investigation was initiated.

As part of the inquiry, law enforcement officials have seized the relevant Facebook comments and verified the offensive nature of the accused’s remarks. These comments, intended to sexually harass and tarnish the complainant’s reputation, have caused significant harm to her public image, said the police adding that further investigation is going on.
