OAS assault case: Major sections of BNS applied against Jagannath Pradhan
Jaga Pradhan has been arrested and sent to the judicial custody of Jharpada Jail. He has been charged with these sections of BNS.
Bhubaneswar: The OAS officers are returning to work and normalcy has been restored after the Odisha Administrative Services Association (OASA) withdrew its ceasework protest soon after the arrest of senior BJP Leader Jagannath Pradhan on Thursday evening.
The SDJM Court has rejected his bail petition and sent him for a 14-day judicial custody. The Commissionerate Police has booked BJP Leader Jagannath Pradhan under Section 333, Section 132, Section 121(1), Section 121 (2), Section 351(2), Section 62 and 304 and Section 54. Section 61(2), Section 189(2), Section 190, Section 3(5) have also been pressed on him.
The following charges have been pressed on him from the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) which replaced the erstwhile Indian Penal Code (IPC):
Section 333: house trespass, causing hurt to any person or assault, wrongfully restraining.
Section 132: offense of assaulting or using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging their duty
Section 189(2): unlawful assembly of five or more people
Section 121 (1): offense of voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to a public servant to deter them from their duty.
Section 121 (2): voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a public servant.
Section 351 (2): criminal intimidation
Section 62: attempting to commit offenses punishable
Section 304: offense of snatching
Section 54: any person, who is absent would be liable to be punished as an abettor
Section 61 (2): criminal conspiracy
Section 190: liability of members of an unlawful assembly for offences committed
Section 3(5): offense committed with joint liability with common intention
