Naveen Patnaik: The CM who loves sports & sports persons boosts injured football player’s spirits

Bhubaneswar: Undoubtedly, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has played a vital role in nurturing the Indian hockey by investing money and other resources.

Under Patnaik’s leadership, the Odisha government has been sponsoring both Men’s and Women’s teams of Indian Hockey, due to which both teams excelled in the Tokyo Olympics. While the Men’s team won the first bronze medal after a gap of 41 years, the women’s team narrowly lost the bronze medal and ended in fourth place.

Patnaik also has taken a number of projects to his hands for the promotion of sports. Even the State has successfully conducted several international tournaments especially the hockey at Kalinga Stadium, which is why people have started calling Odisha the sports capital of India.

Time and again he reviews the progress of the infrastructure projects and also facilitates the sportspersons for their success. The CM, who also follows sports, also gives government jobs to the deserving sports person/athletes.

Today, also the Chief Minister went to watch the Odisha Women’s League football match at Kalinga Stadium. During his visit, he lifted the spirits of an 18-year-old football player named Manisha Nayak.

Manisha, a member of the Sports Odisha Football Team, could not take part in the match due to injury. However, after learning about Manisha, the CM went to her and patted her back for spirit and love for the game.

Encouraging Manisha, Patnaik spoke to her, checked about her health and recovery. Besides, he took photos with her.
