Mortal Remains Of MP Raghunath Mohapatra Consigned To Flames With Full State Honours

Cuttack: The last rites of Rajya Sabha MP and eminent sculptor Raghunath Mahapatra have in performed at Swargadwar in Puri of Odisha.

Mahapatra has been cremated with full state honors.

He died due to Covid at the age of 78 on Sunday. This was informed by Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Bhubaneswar, Gitanjali Batmanabane.

He was admitted at the government hospital after he tested positive for Covid on April 22. A team of specialist doctors of the Hospital was treating Mahapatra.

The grandson of Mohapatra performed the last rites and lit the funeral pyre with strict adherence to Covid protocols.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his deep grief over the sad and untimely demise of the noted sculptor, who had dreamt of constructing second Konark Sun Temple in the State.

Many other famous personalities and politicians condoled the death of the MP.
