Miscreants slit devotee’s throat in Puri, loot valuables

Puri: A group of unidentified miscreants allegedly slit a devotee’s throat and looted valuables from him near Jagannath Ballav parking lot here in Odisha.

The victim has been identified as Pramod Jena of Balasore. He came to the city along with his friends to offer prayer at Jagannath temple.

Promod was first rushed to the district headquarters hospital here.  He was later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated. His condition is stated to be critical.

According to reports, the incident took place last night when Pramod reached the parking lot to take his vehicle after completing darshan of the holy trinity at the Srimandir in the city.

The miscreants slit his throat with sharp weapon and snatched away his gold chain, mobile phone, wallet and other valuables.

Puri town police registered a case in this connection and launched a man-hunt drive to nab the culprits.
