Nuapada: In a significant breakthrough, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have successfully dismantled a Maoist camp during a thorough combing operation near the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. The operation, carried out in the Patadhara reserve forest area, led to the discovery of the camp situated near Jholapada village within the jurisdiction of Sinapali police limits in Nuapada district.
Authorities reported the seizure of an assortment of items from the site, underscoring the militant group’s presence. Among the confiscated materials were detonators, low-intensity explosives, Naxal uniforms, literature, and an empty AK-47 cartridge.
Nuapada Superintendent of Police, GR Raghavendra, stated, “On August 17, we launched an operation in collaboration with the Special Operations Group (SOG), District Voluntary Force (DVF), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The following day, we discovered a Naxal camp near Jholapada village. Our recovery includes detonators, uniforms, low explosive materials, literature, an AK-47 empty cartridge, and other items.”
According to SP Raghavendra, approximately 20 to 25 Naxal insurgents were present at the campsite. However, upon spotting the approaching security personnel, the militants swiftly fled the scene. Notably, no exchange of gunfire occurred during the operation.
A Commandant of CRPF revealed, “CRPF’s 19th Battalion, along with the 207 Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) and the 216 battalion, are actively deployed in Nuapada. Our collaborative efforts with the local police are yielding significant results. Our operations in the region are being intensified to address the situation.”
