Manas Swain murder case: Post mortem report of cameraman released

Cuttack: The post mortem report of Cameraman Manas Swain has been released today from S.C.B. Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

According to the released post mortem report, three bones of Manas swain’s rib cage were broken. He was beaten with an iron rod.

Adding to it, Manas had also suffered a spinal cord injury and he was bleeding extensively for a long period of time.

As a result, Manas died due to excessive bleeding. It has also been learnt that he was not given food for a long time.

Notably on the first day of interrogation on Tuesday, the crime branch team conducted a seven-hour marathon interrogation. As many as four teams of 16 people have been formed to interrogate the four accused.

The remand period will end on April 5, 2022. During this period of time, the Crime Branch team is likely to interrogate Sarmistha Rout and Niranjan Sethi face to face.

Sarmistha Rout and Jhuna Bhoi were arrested by the joint teams of Bhadrak Police and Crime Branch from the Nalanga area of Bhadrak district earlier today. Both of them were produced before the Court of JMFC Chandbali later.

Besides, Sethi was was arrested on March 21 as the evidence that was collected proved the involvement of the officer in this murder case. He was said to be the mastermind behind the crime.

Notably, Manas Swain was working as the cameraman of the web channel owned by Sarmistha. His family members filed a missing report with Chandbali police on February 14, following which a case under sections 373 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered and an investigation was initiated.
