Koraput: In a shocking incident, a woman was looted and murdered by unknown miscreants in the presence of her husband who was tied to a tree in Kumaragandhana Haria munda village under Nandapur police station limits in Koraput district on Monday evening.
The deceased woman has been identified as Sabi Khara and her husband is identified as Mahendra Khara.
According to sources, the husband- wife duo had gone to update their Aadhar card in the nearby common services centre (CSC) in the evening. While they were walking towards their home, unknown miscreants attacked them with lathis.
After Mahendra lost consciousness, he was tied to a tree by the miscreants. The miscreants then looted the gold jewellery Sabi was wearing and fled the scene after murdering her.
Locals informed the police who reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter. A scientific team from Koraput took samples for investigation.
