Man Killed After Tractor Overturns In Balasore Of Odisha

Balasore: A man was killed after a tractor overturned in Angaragadia area under Balasore town limits in Balasore district of Odisha on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Sunaram Soren of Telengasahi in the town area.

The tractor involved in the accident was transporting construction materials for an overbridge being built nearby. The tractor was carrying a heavy cement pillar in its carrier and Sunaram was sitting next to it.

As the tractor was moving through a kachha road and was nearing a level crossing the driver of the vehicle lost control and the vehicle turned to its side.  Sunaram fell from the vehicle and the cement pillar fell on him, crushing him to death instantaneously. The driver of the vehicle managed to flee the accident site.

After hearing about the accident, the locals gathered around the spot and demanded compensation of 20 lakhs for the victim’s family.

On getting the information about the incident, the Balasore police along with Government Railway Police (GRP) reached the spot placated the irate mob, and launched a probe into the matter.

They are trying to investigate under what circumstances the tractor turned turtle. The procedure of recovering the dead body is underway. Meanwhile, a manhunt has been initiated to nab the accused.
