Bhubaneswar: The Capital Police has reportedly arrested a man on charges of impersonating himself as a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Inspector and duping a woman on pretext of marriage.
Police said that the woman, a native of Berhampur, alleged that the accused person Satyajit Samal who is originally from Badamallipur village in Jajpur district but residing at Plot No- 106 of Prachi Vihar in Bhubaneswar, cheated cash of Rs 1,60,000 from her on the pretext of marriage, said police.
The victim had given the cash to Satyajit by availing a gold loan of Rs 2 lakhs from a mini finance bank, added the police.
Based on her complaint, the Capital police had registered a case no. 95, dated 26.02.2024, under sections 376(2)(n)/417/403/420 of the IPC and started the probe.
In course of probe, police arrested the accused person today and forwarded him to the court. a new Nissan Magnite car of accused also has been seized.
