Low-Pressure Area Weakening, IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Heavy Rain in 11 Districts
For August 20, a yellow alert has been issued for 4 districts — Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj — due to likely heavy rain.
Bhubaneswar: The low-pressure area is weakening. The low-pressure system over Gangetic West Bengal and north Jharkhand is gradually losing strength. However, a cyclonic circulation extending up to 4.5 km above sea level persists over the same region.
Another active cyclonic circulation is also present over south Odisha and adjoining areas.
Due to its impact, most districts in western and northwestern Odisha are likely to witness rainfall in the next 24 hours.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in 11 districts. A yellow alert for heavy rainfall has also been issued for 7 districts for tomorrow.

Rainfall intensity is expected to decrease slightly after August 20. However, as the southwest monsoon remains active, light to moderate rain is likely at most places.
