Bhubaneswar: The land patta row turned ugly as there was a face-off between the police and slum dwellers in front of the Odisha Assembly. According to reports, Salia sahi resident of Bhubaneswar gheraoed the Odisha Assembly and had a confrontation with the police.

The police stopped the residents of Saliasahi when they were coming in a procession to encircle the Legislative Assembly in the land patta row. They had an argument with the police over this. It is worth mentioning that as many as 180 agitators have been detained. In the scuffle, six policewomen were injured.

All the settlements in Bhubaneswar are being surveyed and land leases (pattas)are being given, while Salias ahi has been excluded from the survey.

Further it is worth mentioning that, the residents of Salia sahi have protested against this. They have also opposed the construction of a 200 feet road right in the centre of Salia Sahi.
