The woman identified as Anku Miniaka was carried on stretcher after she complained of labour pain.
She was carried on shoulder by four youths, who had to walk around five kilometers before an ambulance took her to the Kalyansinghpur health centre where Miniaka delivered a baby girl in the evening.
The condition of the woman and her baby is stated to be stable.
Locals alleged that there is neither any pucca road connectivity to the village nor a bridge to cross the river which forces the residents of the village to cross the river at great risk during the rainy season.
