Khandapara NAC Executive Officer Niranjan Dhal nabbed by Vigilance while taking bribe
Khandapara NAC Executive Officer was apprehended by the Vigilance sleuths while demanding and taking bribe amount of Rs 20,000 from a Contractor (complainant).
Nayagarh: Khandapara NAC Executive Officer (EO) Niranjan Dhal was nabbed by officials of Odisha Vigilance while taking bribe of Rs 20,000 from a contractor today.
Khandapara NAC Executive Officer was apprehended by the Vigilance sleuths while demanding and taking bribe amount of Rs 20,000 from a Contractor (complainant) in his residential Government quarter in lieu of bills already passed towards works completed by complainant and to make necessary measurement related to another work done and to facilitate release of bill in favour of complainant.
Dhal was demanding bribe Rs 20,000 for the aforementioned purpose. Left with no option, complainant reported the matter to Vigilance authorities alleging harassment by the EO.
Following this, accused Dhal was nabbed sand the entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of accused Executive Officer and seized.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 08/2025, U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against accused Sri Niranjan Dhal, Executive Officer of Nayagarh Municipality.
Following the trap, searches are going on in the office and Government residential quarter of the accused Executive Officer, as well as in other residential premises at Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak and Balasore from Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.
