Kendrapada forest ranger arrested for possessing DA to the tune of 372% of known sources of income

Odisha Vigilance today arrested Rabindra Kumar Nayak, the Forest Ranger of Kendrapada Forest Range and forwarded him to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Kataka for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 372% of his known sources of income.

Kendrapada: Odisha Vigilance today arrested Rabindra Kumar Nayak, the Forest Ranger of Kendrapada Forest Range and forwarded him to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Kataka for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 372% of his known sources of income.

The Vigilance sleuths arrested Nayak after he could not account for satisfactorily to the disproportionate assets. In this connection, Kataka Vigilance PS Case No.25 dated 09.07.2026 was registered against Rabindra Kumar Nayak under sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) of PC Amendment Act, 2018.

During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets worth crores were unearthed in the name of the Forest Ranger and his family members;

  • Residential four storeyed palatial building with area 7038 Sqft. located at Munduli, Baranga, Kataka.
  • One building located at Sahadapada, PS-Banki, Dist-Kataka.
  • 6 high value plots in prime area of Baranga, Kataka
  • Cash Rs.2,14,000/
  • Gold 283.5 gms & Silver 511 gms.
  • Deposits Rs.76 lakhs.
  • 1 four wheeler (Grand Vitara) & 2 two wheelers.
  • Household articles worth around Rs.22 Lakhs.

After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Rabindra Kumar Nayak, Forest Ranger, Kendrapada Forest Range were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 372% in excess of his known sources of income.

Investigation of the case is in progress.
