Malkangiri: Kandhamal MP and KIIT & KISS Founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta has extended helping hands to KISS student Shanti Dhangada Majhi, who had decided to quit studies due to lack of financial means.
Shanti, who belongs to Bonda tribal community, passed the matriculation exam this year from KISS. However, she made up her mind to quit studies after realising that her parents lack means to support her higher studies.
Despite having the quest for education, Shanti decided to sacrifice her dreams and go to Andhra Pradesh to work as a daily wage labourer in order to support her family’s meager income.
However, her joy knew no bounds when Dr. Samanta decided to bear the expenses of the girl’s higher education after learning about her family’s poor financial conditions.
Not only this, he has also announced to support the education of Shanti’s elder sister Manguli, who had to leave her graduation course midway owing to lack of money.
Expressing gratitude, Shanti says KISS is the only Institution where tribal students get quality education and world-class facilities free of cost. She also thanked Dr. Achyuta Samanta for giving her the opportunity to pursue higher studies and realise her dreams.
Noteworthy, the Bonda tribe is regarded as one of the oldest and educationally lagging tribes in the country. In order to promote education among them, Dr. Samanta has been tirelessly working for years- ensuring that every single boy and girl of the tribal community receives education, which is the gateway to a bright future.
The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (|KISS), which is the largest free residential institute of the world exclusively for tribal students, has granted admission to numerous tribal students, who are now pursuing education in various streams free of cost at the Institution.
