Job fraud in Bhubaneswar: Fake consultant arrested for duping job seekers of Rs 60 Lakh
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena, in a press meet, informed that one Shobhan Ranjan Behera of Orakala under the Airfield police station was arrested for duping five job seekers by promising them government jobs.
Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, the Nayapalli police has busted a job fraud racket and arrested a fake consultant on charges of duping job seekers of Rs 60 lakh.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena, in a press meet, informed that one Shobhan Ranjan Behera of Orakala under the Airfield police station was arrested for duping five job seekers by promising them jobs in different sectors including government jobs.
Behera with an MCA degree used to collect money from the job seekers through Sanjog Consultancy situated at IRC village under Nayapalli police station limits of the State Capital City, the DCP said adding that he used to collect lakhs of rupees by promising them jobs in government banks and central government departments.
Police started a probe against the consultant based on a complaint filed by Debabrata Karna, a resident of Boudh district. He had alleged that Behera had taken Rs 6 lakh from him assuring to provide a job in a state bank. However, he failed to provide the job.
Apart from arresting Behera and forwarding him to the court, the police also seized some cash from his possessions.
Further police probe also revealed that Behera, who has opened offices in Kolkata, Delhi, and Hyderabad, had similarly duped four other job seekers of Rs 55 lakh.
