Irate women lock Anganwadi centre in Daringbadi over dereliction of duty by worker
The irate women alleged that the AWW was providing poor quality of food and only providing half a egg in place of one egg to the students.
Daringbadi: Some women under the Mahadaganda Anganwadi 2 under Daringbadi Gram Panchayat locked the centre alleging that the dereliction of duty of the worker. She was providing low quality food in the mid-day meals to the children, they alleged.
According to information, the Anganwadi worker was providing low quality of rice with worms wriggling in it. The villagers also alleged that she was providing half egg in place one whole egg to the students. They also alleged that she was not properly registering the pregnant woman for maternal benefits.
The women who locked the Anganwadi centre also alleged that the worker was not providing and taking away the food for the pregnant woman. As a result, the health of the students is deteriorating.
Despite repeated complaints, the alleged worker did not change her ways. Finding no other resolute, the women took it in their hands and locked the centre.
They said, “We will not open the doors until our issue is resolved. The doors of the AWC will remain closed for indefinite period.”
On the other hand, the Anganwadi helper also agreed that poor quality of paddy is used for cooking the rice. However, the worker refuted the allegations and called it baseless.
The Child Development Programme Officer (CDPO) Sandhyarani Panda said that a Janch Committee will be set up to enquire on the matter. The course of action will follow on the findings of the report submitted by the Janch Committee.
It is worth mentioning here that as many as two pregnant, two lactating mothers and 16 children are reliable on the AWC.
