IMD predicts fresh low pressure area over Bay of Bengal, rain in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today predicted a fresh low pressure area over Eastcentral and adjoining North Bay of Bengal on August 29.

The weather department forecasted that the low pressure area is likely to move west-northwestwards close to south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts during subsequent two days.

Under the influence of the low pressure area, rainfall activities will occur in different parts of the State as mentioned below.

Day-1: (Valid up to 8.30 AM of 28.08.24): Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at most places over the districts of North Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Odisha.

Day-2: (Valid from 8.30 AM of 28.08.24 to 8.30 AM of 29.08.24): Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Day-3: (Valid from 8.30 AM of 29.08.24 to 8.30 AM of 30.08.24): Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.

Day-4 & Day-5: (Valid from 8.30 AM of 30.08.24 to 8.30 AM of 01.09.24): Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Costal Odisha, South Interior Odisha and at many places over the districts of North Interior Odisha.

Wind warning: Squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is very likely to prevail over West Central Bay of Bengal adjoining North west Bay of Bengal and along & off Odisha coasts during 30th and 31st Aug 2024.

Fishermen Warning: Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha coasts, West central adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal during 30th and 31st August 2024.
