The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued four days of yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning in Odisha following which the office of the Special Relief Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary issued an advisory.
Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued four days of yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning in Odisha following which the office of the Special Relief Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary issued an advisory.
As per the mid-day weather bulletin issued by the IMD today, heavy to very heavy rain has occurred at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal and Gajapati.

DAY-1: Valid upto 8.3O AM of October 8:
- YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angui- Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendmpara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
DAY-2: Valid from 8.3O AM of October 8 to 8.3O AM of October 9:
- YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapan.

- YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
Taking a serious note of the weather forecast of the IMD, the office of the Special Relief Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary issued the following advisory.
- Districts under yellow warning to keep administrative machinery ready to face any eventuality.
- People may be advised to keep watch on weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning.
- Submit a report on the damage, if occurred due to thunderstorm, whirlwind, hailstorm, lightning and rainfall immediately for information of the government.
