Illegal wood seized in Gajapati: 4 OSAP jawan arrested

Gajapati: Four Odisha Special Armed Police (OSAP) personnel have been arrested today in connection with the case of illegal teak woods that were seized from from a police van in Gajapati district on November 3.

Reportedly, these four arrested police personnel were involved in the smuggling of woods. The cops have seized the police vehicle and the illegal woods worth Rs 65,000. A departmental investigation has been initiated into this incident by Additional Director General (ADG) R.P Koche.

Till the filing of this report, as many as six forest department officials have been questioned by ADG Koche. The statements of other senior employees will be recorded today.

It is pertinent to mention that A team of forest department officials have seized illegal teakwoods from a police van near Ramsagar Road in Paralakhemundi of the district. Based on a reliable information, the forest officials intercepted the police vehicle and seized the illegal teakwood logs. The vehicle belongs to Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP) 3rd Battalion.

The officials have initiated this investigation ascertain from where the teak woods came from, where did the vehicle loaded those woods and to whom was it getting delivered in Bhubaneswar.
