Huge herd of elephants spotted in Kandhamal, locals panic

G.Udaygiri: A huge herd of elephants were spotted in Kandhamal district of Odisha said reliable reports in this regard on Wednesday. It has alleged that North Ghumusarkhand forest late at night.

Further it is worth mentioning that the elephant herd destroyed crops in Kurmingia and Raipada areas under G. Udayagiri forest area. After informing the forest department, forester Rashmita Baksi, forest guard Bibhu Ranjan Samantharai and para guard reached the spot and investigated the movement of the elephants. It is found that there were three tuskers, 10 baby elephants and five baby elephants among the 18 elephant herds.

Residents of the area have been prohibited from venturing into the forest to collect forest produce. It seems that Radhamohan Sahu’s garden in Raipada has been destroyed by the elephant herd. Similarly, Vikram Pradhan, Hirwati Pradhan, Amiya Kumar Pradhan and Jagu Sahu crops have been said to have bene destroyed completely.

It is said that due to extreme heat in North Ghumusarkhand forest, the elephant herd is heading towards Kandhamal district in search of food.
