Huge cache of explosives and LMG, AK-47 rifles, INSAS, SLR, STEN gun BGL sale, Detonators were seized in Anti maoist operation
Malkangiri: In a major anti-Maoist operation extending over 5 days, the security personnel busted a Maoist hideout and destroyed a cache of equipments last night. The operations were carried in the Abujhamada jungles in Malkangiri bordering Chhattisgarh.
According to information, the Narayanpur police and Maoists had an exchange of fire. The police is also suspecting the death and injuries of some of the Red Rebels.
The security personnel of Special Task Force (STF) District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) carried out the anti-Maoist operations against the Maoists. Huge cache of explosives were also seized. LMG, AK-47 rifles, INSAS, SLR, STEN gun BGL sale, Detonators, Cadex and such other modern equipments. Over 30o machineries have been seized.
The operation went on for 5 days. The Kutul Area Committee Maoist organization opened fire indiscriminately on the security forces after knowing the approach of the security forces. Police suspect that some Maoists were killed in the retaliatory fire of the security forces.
The Maoists escaped by taking advantage of the dense forest, river and spring. During the search operation after the exchange of fire, a large number of weapons, ammunition, explosives thrown by the Maoists were found. Despite heavy rains in the Abujhamad area, the security forces conducted anti-Maoist operations for 5 consecutive days.
Narayanpur SP Robinson Guria said that our main objective is to wean the tribals living in the remote forests of Abujhamad from the Maoist ideology so that development and peace can be established in the area. We call on the Maoists to abandon violence, accept the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy and join the mainstream of society.
