Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurates 59th DG-IGP conference in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Bhubaneswar today at 1:15 pm and inaugurated the 59th DG-IGP conference at the Lok Seva Bhawan convention center. He was given a grand welcome by Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan and other dignitaries of BJP.

As per his programme schedule, he will attend the meet and discuss topics on critical components of national security, including Counter Terrorism, Left Wing Extremism, Coastal Security, New Criminal Laws, Narcotics among others. The President’s Police Medal for distinguished service will also be awarded during the Conference.

Prime Minister Narendra modi will attend the conference from tomorrow. He will arrive in Bhubaneswar today but will attend a party meeting here.

Prime Minister has encouraged the annual DGsP/IGsP Conference to be organized all across the country, since 2014. The DG-IGP conference has been held in Guwahati (Assam), Rann of Kachchh (Gujarat), Hyderabad (Telangana), Tekanpur (Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh), Statue of Unity (Kevadiya, Gujarat), Pune (Maharashtra), Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), New Delhi and Jaipur (Rajasthan). Continuing with this tradition, the 59th DGsP/IGsP Conference 2024 is being organized in Bhubaneswar (Odisha).

Minister of State for home affairs Nitayanad Rai, CBI director were also present during the inauguration of the conference. Director of Hyderabad-based National Police Academy along with Telangana DGP, Assam DGP, Puducherry DGP, Mizoram DGP, Uttarakhand DGP have arrived in Bhubaneswar for the conference earlier in the day. Other dignitaries like Maharashtra DGP, West Bengal DGP and Himachal Pradesh DGP along with officials from PMO will also attend the conference.
