Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain alert to nine districts in Odisha for today.
According to recent bulletin of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, yellow warning for isolated heavy rainfall (7cm – 11cm) along with thunderstorm with lightening has been issued to districts including Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Deoghar, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.
Likewise, yellow warning has been issued to several districts including Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Angul, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj for heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm and lightning for tomorrow.
The state is likely to get drench in downpour on Independence Day as well. As per the weathermen, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the some districts of North Odisha on 15th August.
To put a check on the situation, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has warned the 10 districts in the basin due to the rising water level of the river. These districts includes Sambalpur, Sonepur, Nayagarh, Angul, Boudh, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara. People living in flooded areas are advised to keep a close eye on roads and bridges that are flooded.
