Heavy rain to continue to lash Odisha in next 48 hours, Yellow warning issued to 5 districts

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that heavy rain is likely to continue to lash over Odisha during the next 48 hours.

The weather department has further mentioned that rain is likely to drench again from August 13.

In its recently bulletin, the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar issued yellow warning to five districts. As per prediction, isolated heavy rainfall (7 cm – 11 cm) is very likely in districts including Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh and Keonjhar.

Likewise, heavy rain is likely in districts including Sundergarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj tomorrow.

Taking a serious note of yellow warning over several districts of the state,  Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has asked the collectors to be ready to face any eventuality and issued the following warnings:

  • Districts under yellow warning to keep administrative machinery ready to face any eventuality.
  • In urban areas, low-lying areas may have water logging and roads/drains may be submerged under water.
  • The ULBs musty keep the drains/storm water channels de-congested and adequate de-watering pumps may be deployed as per requirement.
  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall recorded may be reported immediately to the SRC office.
  • Submit report on damage, if occurred due to heavy rainfall immediately for information of the govt.
