Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain has been predicted in Odisha, there shall be rain in as many as seven districts for next three days. Due to depression in the Bay of Bengal, rain shall continue in the state.
Bhubaneswar Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in seven districts and 11 districts on August 28. A deep low pressure is currently active in the Gangetic region of West Bengal. It will move in the west-northwest direction and head towards Jharkhand and North Odisha.
Due to this, there is a possibility of heavy rain in various districts of the state for the next two to three days.
AUGUST 28: Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha. Orange warning (Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 cm to 20 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak.
Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 cm to 11 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Malkangiri and Koraput.
AUGUST 29: Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at many places over
the districts of Odisha. Orange warning (Be prepared) Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 cm to 20cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda.
Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy rainfall (7 cm to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack and Sambalpur.
Impact and action suggested for Orange warning:
1. Temporarily water logging likely in low lying areas and underpass road.
2. Poor visibility during intense spell of rain and traffic congestion in urban areas.
3. Some damages to kutchha Road and possibility of wall collapsed of vulnerable kutchha houses. 4. Some damages to vegetables and horticultural crops likely.
5.. Avoid staying in vulnerable kutchha houses. Advisory on traffic congestion may be followed before leaving for your destination.
6. Arrangement for drainage of excess water from nursery bed, preparations for sowing of paddy
crops, seed collections may be done.
