Ganja worth Rs 15 lakh seized in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, 2 held

Keonjhar: Ganja worth Rs 15 lakh has been seized in Keonjhar district of Odisha on Friday. Keonjhar Sadar Police seized an illegal consignment of 1 quintal 40 kg 440 gram ganja from a car while being smuggled from Boudh to Kolkata today.

Two accused persons have been arrested in this connection. The accused persons have been identified as Amal Dehuri from a village under Raghunathpur police station limits in Boudh district and Subhendu Behera from a village under Sarasara police station limits, police said.

As per reports, after receiving information from a reliable source, the Keonjhar Sadar police conducted checking at Belda village near National Highway 49 and apprehended a car in which smuggling of ganja from Boudh district to Kolkata was going on.

Police seized eight sacks of ganja, weighing 1 quintal, 40 kg, 440 grams from the car with an estimated value of Rs 15 lakh.

Two persons were initially detained in this connection who were later arrested after questioning. They have been produced in the court today.
