Ganja cultivation worth Rs 15 crore destroyed in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police and Excise Department have conducted a joint raid at various areas in Kandhamal district to destroy illegal ganja cultivation worth crores of rupees, informed Sadar Police Officer Prashant Kumar Behera.

Based on a reliable information, the police and officials of Excise department jointly cut down and destroyed 152 acres of illegal ganja cultivation in Bradipada, Hatimesha and Bilbadi villages of Dudki gram panchayat under Sadar police limits.

The worth of the destroyed ganja cultivation is estimated to be Rs 15 crore, added reports.

Earlier this year, the Excise Department and the Baliguda Police had destroyed illegal ganja cultivation worth over 80 crores in Kandhamal district.

Recently, the Excise department of Odisha seized one quintal of Ganja worth Rs 7 lakhs in Jamalpur village of Jaleswar and have arrested father and son in this connection.
