Fresh low pressure by September 2! IMD issues five days of rain warning for Odisha
Yet another fresh low pressure area is likely to be formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal around September 2, predicted the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.

In view of the possible fresh low pressure, the weather department also issued five days of rain warning for Odisha. It also sounded yellow and orange warnings.

Day 1 (Valid upto 8.30 AM of September 1):
- YELLOW WARNING: Heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput.
- Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri.
Day 2 (Valid from 8.30 AM of September 1 to 8.30 AM of September 2):
- ORANGE WARNING: Heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Koraput.
- YELLOW WARNING: Heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Rayagada, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Balangir and Nuapada.
- Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur and Boudh.

- YELLOW WARNING: Heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Sundargarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Rayagada.
