Four special teams set up to nab the accused in newborn stealing case in VIMSAR
Sambalpur: Despite 15-hours duration, police have not been successful in nabbing the woman in the newborn stealing case from under the nose of his family members in VIMSAR Medical college and Hospital, Burla on Tuesday.
Police have been searching throughout the night and had blocked four routes in Burla town. As many as four special teams have been set up who are searching at different locations in the town.
Two days ago, a woman of Saraipalli area in Chhattisgarh was admitted to the Gynaecology and Obstetrics department in VIMSAR where she delivered a boy. The woman identified as Gita, had come along with her sister. However, an unidentified woman from Sambalpur in the lieu of consoling their newborn ran away taking him around 4:00pm on Tuesday.
After hours of waiting when she did not return, the family lodged a complaint with the police. On investigation, the woman leaving the hospital premises with the newborn was captured on camera. Despite the presence of security, this unpleasant incident of newborn stealing has raised questions on the safety of the patients in the hospital.
