Former Odisha MLA Anup Sai Gets Life Imprisonment

Bhubaneswar:  Former BJD leader and Brajarajnagar MLA Anup Sai gets life imprisonment by Raigarh sessions court in his involvement in a double murder case in Chhattisgarh.

On Feb 13, Anup Sai was arrested by Chattisgarh police in the murder case involving a mother-daughter duo in 2016 and on the same date he was expelled by the party Supremo Naveen Patnaik.

Sources said, the former MLA of Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district was allegedly involved in the murder of a woman identified as Kalpana Das (32) and her daughter Pravati Das (14) in April 2016 in the border area of Jharsuguda.

Sai was elected as Brajarajnagar MLA thrice on a Congress ticket. Later, he joined the BJD in 2014 and contested Assembly elections unsuccessfully.

Sai, served as the MLA of Brajarajnagar from May 19, 2009 to May 18, 2014 is currently serving as the chairman of  Odisha Warehousing Corporation after joining BJD in 2014.
