Former Grade-A Lineman convicted in Odisha bribery case

In a significant anti-corruption development, Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of one former Lineman (Grade-A) of office of Assistant Manager, TPSODL, Tikabali Section in Kandhamala district in a bribery case.

Phulbani: In a significant anti-corruption development, Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of one former Lineman (Grade-A) of office of Assistant Manager, TPSODL, Tikabali Section in Kandhamala district in a bribery case.

The former Lineman has been identified as Kalu Charan Palleyi.

Palleyi was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Berhampur Vigilance PS Case No-25 dated 17.11.2022 , U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 for demanding and taking bribe of Rs 5,000 from a shopkeeper to supply new electricity connection to his shop, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs 20,000.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Palleyi from service following his conviction.
