Forester of Bandhbahal section arrested by Odisha vigilance while taking bribe Rs 5,000
Gouranga Sahu, the Forester of Bandhbahal Section under Brajrajnagar Range has been arrested and forwarded to the Court by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and taking bribe of Rs 5,000.
Jharsuguda: Gouranga Sahu, the Forester of Bandhbahal Section under Brajrajnagar Range has been arrested and forwarded to the Court by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and taking bribe of Rs 5,000.
Sahu was arrested while taking the bribe from a person to grant permission in his favour and allow him for cutting and transportation of dry Eucalyptus Tree from his land. But, Forester Sahu demanded bribe from the person to pass order to cut/transport dry trees from his own land, prompted him to report the matter to Vigilance authorities.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on today wherein a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed the accused Gouranga Sahu while taking bribe from the owner of the land inside the office campus and when Sahu was about to flee from the spot on seeing the alert Vigilance team.
The entire bribe money was recovered and seized from the possession of Sahu in presence of witnesses. Right hand wash of Sahu gave positive chemical reaction, confirming taking and handling of bribe money by him.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house of Sahu at Kantapali, Jharsuguda and his office room.
In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance PS Case No.13 dated 04.12.2025 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
