Five arrested for running fake job racket in Odisha

Koraput: As many as five persons have been arrested for running a fake job racket in Odisha’s Koraput district, informed Sunabeda SDPO Manoj Kumar Behera on Sunday.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sushil Kumar Chaudhury and Sunial Kumar Chaudhury of Rayagada and Sanotsh Kumar Baral, Kamal Mohanty and Abhimanyu Mishra of Bhubaneswar.

According to Behera, the Damanjodi police started an investigation based on a complaint about the fake job racket. The district police had formed three teams under the leadership of IIC of Sunabeda police station, IIC of Damanjodi Police station and IIC of Similiguda police station to probe the case.

The teams conducted a raid on a hotel in Sunabeda today and arrested five persons. They also seized several incriminating materials including fake gate pass, appointment letters, a computer, a laptop, a printer, different forms, stamps, 55 visiting cards and appointment letters of 17 reputed companies and Rs 21,000 in cash from their possession.

The accused persons, who also used to identify themselves as media persons, used to take Rs 30,000-40,000 from each job aspirants assuring them to provide job in some reputed companies like Nalco and HAL.

The SDPO said that the fake job racket came to light after the security guards of Damanjodi-based Nalco Company informed the police after verifying the fake appointment letters and gate passes of some youth, who had received the same from the accused persons.

The accused persons have duped around 70 youths of the district, he added.
