Fire breaks out at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur
A minor fire reportedly broke out on the premises of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur at around 5.30 PM today.
Berhampur: A minor fire reportedly broke out on the premises of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur at around 5.30 PM today. The fire mishap reportedly took place on the third floor of the Medicine ward of the State government-run hospital.
Sources said that the minor fire is said to have been caused due to a short-circuit at the AC fixed inside the hall, which though had beds for the patients but none of the patients were admitted in the room.
After noticing a thick smoke emitting from the hall, the on-duty security personnel of the hospital swung into action without any delay and doused the inferno with the help of the fire extinguishers, said the sources adding that it took around 5-7 minutes for them to bring the blaze under control.
Later, a team of the local fire fighters also rushed to the spot after getting information about the minor fire incident. They conducted a thorough inspection throughout the room to find out whether there was any possibility for such incident again. However, they left the hospital after finding the situation normal.
In fact, a potential major fire tragic was averted due to the timely intervention and presence of mind of the security guards.
